Making memories and learning about God’s amazing love

In June, 30-40 children from 4 years old to those who just finished 4th grade join a crew and spend four days with friends, some they haven’t seen in a year, having fun and learning about God. VBS is free for all children and helpers and is for the whole community.
Each day begins with singing and dancing. Of course, the favorite songs are usually the ones that shake up the kitchen crew downstairs when the jumping begins.
Children then become a crew of about 10 crew members led by teen leaders and junior leaders. Each crew visits four stations during the morning with a snack break mid-morning. The children hear a Bible story, learn about children from around the world who have done amazing things, enjoy outdoor games (rainy days are inside) with a message, and make crafts to take home to help share God’s message with family.
At the end of each day, the children gather for more music and a slideshow of what the rest of their friends did throughout the morning. Our photographers do a great job of capturing the fun being had, friendships being built, and memories being made.
Volunteers are needed to fill these roles:
- Junior leader (just finished 5th grade up through High School)
- Photographer
- Audio/Visual
- Decorating set up and/or tear down
- Registration (7:45-9 Monday morning)
- Craft helper (usually adult)
- Kitchen helper (usually adult)
- Story room helper (usually adult)
Donations, both supplies specific to the year and monetary, are always welcome. Email Joanne Gertje (director) at jgertje28@gmail.com to find out what is needed for the current year.
